The Barrens is a growing project on 21 acres of wild blueberry barrens in Stockton Springs, Maine. We're starting with the land itself, a roadside farm stand, and our first public U-pick wild blueberry season. The retail space, events, trails, action sports park, and micro-resort are parts of the larger vision, not amenities that are open today.
THE BARRENS / FAQ
Questions, answered.
What's happening now, what comes next, and where we're headed.
Phase one is about getting the farm stand open and welcoming people onto the property for our first U-pick wild blueberry season in August 2027. We'll share exact dates, picking conditions, hours, and what's available at the stand as the season takes shape.
Our first public U-pick wild blueberry season opens in August 2027. Because the crop follows the land and weather, exact dates and hours will be announced as we get closer. Follow the build for the latest opening and picking updates.
The property is in Stockton Springs, Maine, about 2 miles from the Route 1 and Route 1A junction. We'll share clear directions and visitor information when public hours are announced.
Our long-term vision is to grow from the farm stand into a curated retail and event space, outdoor recreation areas, and eventually a small hospitality retreat. These ideas will take shape in phases. They are plans we're working toward, not finished features on the property today.
The action sports park is part of the future vision and has not been built. Current plans explore a concrete flow skatepark, mountain bike trails, and other ways for future guests to move through the property. The details may evolve as the land is studied and the project moves through design, funding, and permitting.
The Blueberry Jam is a future gathering we're working toward, built around live music, local art, skateboarding, mountain biking, and time outside. It is part of the projected event vision and is not currently running as a monthly public event.
The micro-resort is a long-term goal and does not have an opening date yet. We're still shaping the concept and working toward architectural plans. The images on our Vision page are early mockups meant to show the direction, not finished buildings or final designs.
We set aside 1 percent of all property revenue for The Barrens Foundation. For now, the first goal is simple: help local kids get their first skateboard or bike. As the property grows, we plan to support larger grants for Mainers working in art and music, conservation, trail management, and outdoor access.
